Battle Wins Third Straight

LINCOLN -- The NWA Battle's winning streak was in question after the first quarter Saturday in Lincoln with the visiting Oklahoma Tornados (0-4) leading 6-0.

Northwest Arkansas (3-1) would rally for five touchdowns in the second quarter en route to a 47-12 win and extend their current winning streak to three games. Quarterback Bryan Adair hit wide receiver Markies Eubanks on a 21-yard touchdown pass to start the second quarter giving the Battle a 7-6 lead and the scoring frenzy was on. NWA then scored on a 9-yard touchdown run from runningback Jermaine Jones, a 28-yard pass from quarterback Marcus London to runningback Marcellis Stradford and a 7-yard run from Stradford. Linebacker Josh Anderson capped the scoring in the second quarter with a 46-yard interception return for a touchdown. Linebacker Dustin Dickerson returned the second half kickoff for a touchdown to give the Battle a 40-12 lead and Tony Jackson returned a fourth quarter Tornado punt 92 yards to set up fullback Cody Hammer for a 5-yard touchdown run. Hammer also recorded an interception on defense. Linebacker Chandler Means and defensive back Chris Dillard combined for three sacks to help lead the defense.

The Battle will return to Lincoln on Saturday to face the Rose Hill (Kan.) Zombies. Kickoff for Saturday's game is 4 p.m. Visit www.nwabattle.com for more information.
