Clothesline Fair Features Crafts, Food, Dancing

PRAIRIE GROVE -- The 63rd annual Clothesline Fair is just around the corner. Put Labor Day weekend on your calendar to enjoy this popular event of arts and crafts booths, food, square dancing and other planned activities.

The Clothesline Fair opens 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park with the Arts and Crafts Exhibition. The craft booths will be open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 30 and Aug. 31 and from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 1 or Labor Day.

The Clothesline Fair Parade begins at 9 a.m. Aug. 30 at Prairie Grove Middle School and ends at the Battlefield State Park.

Living history activities will be ongoing throughout the weekend and these include presentations in the Latta Kitchen, a Sons of Confederate Veterans tent and changing the Flag at Memorial Yard by Battle Monument by Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Exhibition and competitive square dancing will be held Aug. 30 and Sept. 1.

Other scheduled events will be gospel music from 1-5 p.m., Aug 31 and Rustic Relics on display throughout the weekend. A 5K trail run/walk and one mile fun run/walk, called Jubilant Feet, will be held 7:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, to benefit the Mid-South Make A Wish Foundation.

Concessions will be open at all times and a $5 parking fee each day helps to benefit the Prairie Grove Schools' backpack program to provide food on the weekends for needy children. Hindman Hall Museum and Visitor Center will be open with free admission throughout the weekend from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Clothesline Fair is sponsored in partnership with the state park, Prairie Grove Lions Club and Arts Center of the Ozarks.
