Good Participation For History Month

We had a great turn-out last Tuesday night with the Lincoln Public Library's celebration of Lincoln and surrounding areas history month, even Mayor Rob [Hulse] stopped by to say hello. Everyone had a great time. Memories were shared as well as pictures and school albums. A big thank you to everyone who came by.

We will continue to do this every Tuesday for the rest of the month from 6-8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Its free, by the way. If you can't make it, please stop by the library and look at all the pictures we have up. There really is so much rich history here in this area. Also this month, our newspaper books are available for public viewing. We don't have them all, but we will share what we have.

Just a reminder -- the last week of August we will celebrate our local artists and crafters. If you would like to participate please come by anytime on any day or all the last week of August. We would love to have you here to help celebrate Lincoln and surrounding areas history month. Local painters, woodcarvers, quilters, knitters and crocheters will be here at different times from Aug. 25-29. Or come by, watch and ask them questions.

Velda Brotherton, Dusty Richards, MG Miller, Pam Foster, Greg Camp, Gil Miller, JB Hogan and Nancy Hartney will be coming to Lincoln to help us celebrate our artists and craftsmen week. They are local authors and will be bringing books to sell. They will be here Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday. Everyone is welcome to come by and say hello.

This fall, Ms. Sherry Rodgers will begin StoryTime for ages 3 and up. This is a weekly event on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. She will also begin her BookTalkers Club for grades 5 and up, please let us know if you are interested.

If you would like to donate your family history, pictures or memories to the Lincoln Public Library, we would love to have them. We will preserve your history alongside ours for posterity. Thank you all very much.

DIANNA PAYNE IS LIBRARY DIRECTOR AT LINCOLN PUBLIC LIBRARY.
