Lincoln Class of 1974 recently celebrated its 40-year Class Reunion with two days of fun filled activities.

On Nov. 7, we gathered at the new Lincoln football field and watched the Lincoln Wolves play. After the game, we went to Bryan and Mary Freeman's Rat Room garage, where we got re-acquainted and danced until 2 a.m.

Saturday, Nov. 8, the reunion continued with a tour of the new Lincoln High School, a casual banquet at the Lincoln Senior Center, and once again met at Bryan and Mary Freeman's Rat Room Garage and only danced until 12:30 a.m.

A table was set up to honor our deceased classmates: Jerrilyn McDonald-1972, Beverly Reed Lee-1973, Buddy Porter-1983,David Maloney-1989, Ginger Radford Roach-1999, Cindy Thomas Yates-2005, Mike Brady-2009, Steve Young-2010, Jason Griffin-2012, Alan Harris-2012, Mike Harris-2013, and Rogene Swake-2013.

A special thanks to the following people for the loan of their school annuals: Lonnie and Mary Ann Cantrel, Gerita Moreton, Billy Wayne Payne, Doris Hutchens, Harry and Sharon Swain.

Also the Class of 1974 would like to thank: Deon Birkes and the Lincoln school for letting us rope off a section at the game so we could all sit together, Lincoln Senior Center for letting us rent their beautiful building and for catering the banquet, and Courtney Jones for giving us a tour of the new Lincoln High School. An extra special thanks goes to Bryan and Mary Freeman for letting us have our dance both nights at their Rat Room Garage and for the teachers who were able to attend -- Mr. Billy Nation, his wife Judy, and Mary Frances Kretchmeyer for being our special guest.

We would also like to thank all the classmates and spouses who were able to come to the reunion and share in all the laughs and memories. We missed the ones who could not attend. We are already planning our next reunion in two years when we will be celebrating turning 60. We will be having a 60s birthday party along with a 60s theme party -- so start digging out those bell bottom jeans, tie-dyed shirts, fringed vests, and come join the fun.
