Drive Sober Or Get Pulled Over

Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder announced last week the Washington County Sheriff's Office will join police from across the state in a campaign to reduce impaired driving.

The campaign, which includes increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints, is part of a national Impaired Driving Mobilization. The mobilization began on Dec. 12 and will run through Jan. 1, 2015. During this time deputies will target drunk or drugged drivers. Decreasing the number of impaired drivers and making the roads safer is a continuing goal of the Sheriff's Office.

Funds that allow the increased patrol are provided through the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).
