Board Approves 18 New Hires

LINCOLN - When school starts next month Lincoln students will have some new teachers and aide workers to get to know and they will be paying more for breakfasts and lunches.

The Lincoln School Board at its June 15 meeting approved an increase in cafeteria prices so breakfast meals will cost $1 and lunches $2 at all schools for the 2014-15 school year.

The board approved June's financial report and the June food service report, then went into executive session.

After reconvening the board, they approved resignations and new hires for the district.

Lincoln School Board approved hiring 18 new employees at its July 15 meeting. Board members also approved the resignations of five employees.

New cafeteria workers include Allena Smith at Lincoln Elementary, Marie Nuff and Tonya Benton, both at the Lincoln Middle School.

New hires include Jeremiah Griffin, choir director; Ryan Billingsely, middle school fourth and fifth grade math/science teacher; Meena Pourmehdi, middle school special education; Jennifer Skelton, second grade teacher, Alyssa Jones, elementary; Ashley January, elementary special education; Bethany Mitchell, ALE counselor, teacher; Tyler Sutherland, middle school health and science teacher; Austin Phillips, middle school sixth grade teacher; Jamilyn Reed, middle school special education; Debbie Key, high school special education aide; Teressa Crouch, elementary special education aide; Regina Phillips-Lopez, high school special education aide; Pam Kuriatnyk, middle school instructional aide.

Resignations included Melissa Clark, elementary special education teacher; Courtney Bailess, middle school, Rebecca Pugh, district health coordinator; Ally Goddard, middle school; Jennifer Wilson, middle school librarian.

In other action, the board approved a resolution to not have a polling place in Lincoln due to only one person, Kendra Moore, current board president, running for election. Residents will have to go to the Washington County Courthouse to cast a vote in the school board election, which is Sept. 14 with early voting beginning Sept. 9, 2014.
