Academy Students Compete At Regional Convention

Morrow Valley Christian Academy students recently attended the Accelerated Christian Education Regional Student Convention in Springfield, Mo. Nine students competed against 28 schools. Students who won up to sixth place will go to the international competition in New Mexico in May.

Nine students and five adults attended the event. The students attending competed in several events.

Brooke Young placed first in Social Studies Collection and fifth in Bible Memory.

Lauren Graves placed second in Monochromatic Still Life, fourth in Social Studies collection, fifth in Bible Memory, sixth in scrapbooking and ninth in Monochromatic Character Trait.

Christian Hall was first in Discus, second in Sketching, sixth in Bible Memory, sixth in Wood Construction, ninth in Shot-Put.

Shelby Hall was second in Spelling, third in Bible Memory, fourth in Social Studies Research, fourth in Expressive Reading Female, sixth in Poetry Recitation Female, seventh in Power Point Linear.

Alexis Hunt was fourth in Social Studies Collection and Rebekah Igo placed first in Social Studies Collection.

Mark Latta placed first in Oil Painting and first in Sketching. Aareyan Newman was second in Wood Construction and second in Discus and seventh in Bible Memory.

The Academy received a plaque for third place in Academics.

The adults and students attending were: Danaye Hunt, supervisor of Morrow Valley Christian Academy, Rachel Denny, Financial Coordinator, David Latta, judged music and helped with shot put and discus, Carolyn Latta, judged crochet, knitting, counted cross stitch, and afghans, Melissa and Xavier Newman, supporters. Students who participated were David, Carolyn and Mark Latta, Rebekah Igo, Christian Hall, Aareyan Newman, Brooke Young, Shelby Hall, Alexis Hunt, Lauren Graves, Danaye Hunt and Rachel Denny.
