Committee Plans Lincoln Alumni Gathering

Concerning my goof last week, about the upcoming benefits. As we read this, hopefully the benefit for Johnny Loftin was a huge success, enough financial aid during this stressful time.

In all fairness, I didn't know of the Senior Center Hee Haw show postponement until it was too late to change the column. The show is on tap for this Saturday, April 18. For an evening of fun plus dinner, be sure to go to the Center at 6 p.m. knowing you will be helping the Meals on Wheels continue.

On July 4, 1964, 256 Lincoln alumni gathered in the Lincoln Armory for the first Lincoln Alumni Association reunion. For many years this continued annually, later changing to meeting every other year, then for some recent years, from lack of support and interest, no meetings.

Tuesday evening, 17 interested members met and planned for a reunion on July 25, 2015, in the Lincoln Community Building. This will be a reminiscing, catch-up time from 2-5 p.m. hopefully leading to enjoying the annual reunions again.

Look for further plans later as another meeting is planned for April 28 at 6:30 pm. All interested persons are urged to attend.

Anna Cheatham and her grandchildren, Allee Lipford and Derek Cheatham, recently spent a week touring Washington, D.C., and points in between, including the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Va. To be excused from classes for the trip, Allee and Derek must write an essay on their experiences and things learned on the trip. I would like to read those!

Happy Birthday greetings to: Jessie Curtis, Joey Cox, Karen Williams, Joleena Hobbs, Hunter Taylor, Wilma Myers, Goy Jones, Sherry Gardner, Caleb Lloyd, Jackie Griffin, Kenny Bailey, Judy Bradley.

Happy years, all!

Remember the annual yard sale in the Senior Center is coming up. All donations gratefully accepted, and all customers welcome! Call Tina at 824-3861 for information.

Have a SONshine day
