Walker Wins Thrice

GREEN FOREST -- Prairie Grove's Syd Walker won three sprints, capturing the 100, 200 and 400 meters during the Green Forest Senior Relays on April 7.

The Tigers finished sixth in team standings with 44 points while Lincoln was 10th with 21.5 points. Foes from the 4A-1 also competed with Gentry finishing second with 86.5 points. Berryville was fifth with 50.5 points and Huntsville 16th with 6 points. Harrison, now a rival of Farmington from the 5A West, won the meet with 126.5 points.

Walker (11.48) easily out-sprinted second-place Stacy Garrett, of Harrison (11.92), in the 100-meters and repeated the feat in the 200 meters with a time of 22.75 compared to Garrett's runner-up finish of 23.87. Heid Mason, of West Fork, who place third in the 200 meters in 24.31, was Walker's closest competition in the 400 meter. Walker set the pace with a time of 51.34 with Mason second in 51.74.

Nathaniel Harp, of host Green Forest, was third in the 100 meters (12.01) with Gentry's Bryan Harris fourth in 12.02 and Lincoln senior Alec Pitts fifth in 12.17. Elliot Chamberlin placed 17th in 12.66 and Austin Hall was 33rd in 13.05 for Prairie Grove. Lincoln had Nue Gee Lee (12.80) place 22nd and Noah Swayne finish 45th in 13.85.

Four Wolves placed in the 200 meters led by Pitts, 12th in 25.09. Lee was 17th (25.81); Garrett Blankenship, 34th in 27.83; and Noah Swayne, 37th in 28.75.

In the 400 meters, Blankenship placed 28th in 1:02.52 and Kevin Pomeroy was 33rd in 1:05.92.

In the 800 meters, Roni Castaneda, of Lincoln, placed ninth in 2:20.89 with Avery Roton, of Prairie Grove, placing 17th in 2:34.88.

A trio of Wolves placed in the 110 meter hurdles: Pomeroy, 16th in 23.27; Jorge Bustamante, 17th in 23.57; and Gohon Lee, 20th in 24.64.

Coty Hoskins turned in a good time for the Tigers (45.83) to place third in the 300 meter hurdles behind first place Dalton Romero, of Melbourne (42.62) and second place Canyon Barber, of Valley Springs (45.37). Bustamante, 17th in 53.01; and Gohon Lee, 23rd in 1:03.77, placed for Lincoln.

Lincoln entered a pair of relay teams with Swayne/Lee/Pitts and Blankenship capturing sixth in the 4 x 100 relay in 48.22 and Hernandez/Swayne/Castaneda and Caleb Schork placing 12th in the 4 x 400 relay in 4:18.95.

Blankenship was fifth in the high jump with an effort of 5'6". In long jump competition, Pitts came in third with a leap of 19' 3.5" ahead of Tiger Bobby Catt, sixth with a jump of 19' 1".

Catt also competed in the triple jump, placing seventh (38' 9.25") and taking sixth in the shot put (37' 5"). Troy Sugg, of Prairie Grove, made the top 10 with a toss of 36' 6".
