Car Strikes Back Of Bus

DRIVER SAID SHE WAS APPLYING MAKEUP

FARMINGTON -- A 2004 Nissan Altima, driven by Jessica Ferrell of Prairie Grove, rear-ended a Farmington school bus Thursday afternoon, when the bus was stopped on U.S. Highway 62 to let a child off to go home, according to a Farmington police report.

Seven children were on the bus, but none of the children were injured, said Jim Hendricks, transportation director for Farmington schools. Another Farmington bus came to the scene of the accident and took the children home.

According to the report, Ferrell was found at fault for careless driving. The report states that Ferrell told police she was applying makeup prior to the collision and did not realize the school bus had stopped. The accident occurred at 3:39 p.m. near Jim Brooks Road.

Hendricks said the bus driver, Letha Sharp of Farmington, was taken to the emergency room for evaluation.

She was back at work Monday, Hendricks said.
