Seniors Celebrate Valentine's Day With Fun

On Feb. 13, the "Friday the 13th" phobia was forgotten, with a full day of fun and celebration in the Lincoln Senior Center.

The morning started with Patsy Harp and friends, music and dancing.

Next came the announcement and crowning of the newly chosen King and Queen, George and Lorene Schooler.

They drew the name of the winner of the beautiful quilt donated by Jack and Evelyn Thompson. The winner was "Belinda," phone number but no last name.

About 50 lunches were served, plus those who chose to pick from the salad bar.

After lunch, an hour of fun was enjoyed, with Barney Fife and his two side-kicks, songs, jokes and music.

Brownies and ice cream were served and decorated cup cakes were set out for whoever wanted more.

Super Bingo was played, and it was fun, with the "super" prizes.

The fun of the day set the tone for the grand Sweetheart Ball, dinner and dancing Saturday evening.

Relating to the Senior Center and meals.

A lady who delivered meals-on-wheels sometimes took her 4-year-old daughter on her rounds. The girl was intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day she was staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. She turned and whispered to her mother, "The tooth fairy will never believe this!"

Happy birthday to: Gary Cheatham, Jackson Ford, Lois Guess, Mack Miller, Mikey Roy, Bud Cox, and a very special greeting to Lois Uselton, Brenna Hutchens and Addison Roy, who celebrate their birthdays every four years, on February 29th, so this year they can celebrate whenever they wish.

Happy anniversary to George and Lorene Schooler.

Happy years, all!

Have a SONshine day
