FARMINGTON -- Canton, Ohio, is home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and this week is a temporary home for Nykolaus Comer, an incoming Farmington seventh-grader.

Comer will be entering seventh grade at Randall G. Lynch Middle School this fall but right now the boy is taking advantage of a prime-time opportunity to sharpen his football skills by attending a week-long football training camp at Canton, Ohio.

According to his mother, Amanda Comer, Nykolaus' acceptance to Team USA Football squad came as a result of his desire to get better at the sport by going to camps.

"He attended one of the USA Football's regional development camps in Oklahoma City in April and was invited to play for the national team," Amanda Comer said.

Nykolaus will be in Canton, Ohio, all this week from June 29 thru July 4. He will spend the week training with NCAA coaches, NFL players or coaching alumni and top high coaches from premier schools of the nation. His group (Under 14) is comprised of boys exiting sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grades and he is at the youngest age eligible to try out for the national team. Nykolaus plays offensive guard and tackle and is looking forward to playing on Farmington's seventh-grade team in the fall.

Other area players invited to the camp are Alex Thompson, of Lowell; and Connor Miller, of Springdale. Thompson is the son of coach Will Thompson, Director BTX Kids Sports Experience, as well as a certified USA Football youth football and a certified US Youth soccer Lifetime coach. Alex Thompson is returning for his second year on the team and was only the second player ever selected from Arkansas following Shiloh Christian's Kiehl Frazier. He is a strong safety for the U-16 division. Last year he won starting honors and was named one of four team captains. Alex attended Central Junior High School where he helped lead the Warriors to an 18-2 record and a conference championship last season with plans to attend Springdale High School where he is currently working out as a varsity wide receiver.

Miller was selected for his first year on the national team as an offensive lineman at 6-feet-3 and over 300 pounds. Last season, Connor attended Southwest Junior High School in Springdale where he was starting center for the Cougars. He will be attending Springdale Har-Ber High School and intends to play for the Wildcats.
