Crawford Family Gathers For Reunion

The annual family reunion of descendants of James and Nancy (Davis) Crawford was held Saturday, June 20, 2015, at the Jones Center for Families in Springdale.

James and Nancy Crawford came to Arkansas from Kentucky in the late 1860's. They settled on West Flemings Creek near Fly Gap, south of St. Paul in Madison and Franklin Counties on what is now Highway 23 (the famous "Pig Trail"). Coming with them from Kentucky, and settling on adjoining lands, were their seven children: George, John, Kathryn, Mary, Gilbert, Charles and Emily. Descendants of their seven children gather annually for a family reunion and to visit old home places and cemeteries in the area.

Ninety-four family members, friends and guests attended this year. A covered dish meal was served at noon. Following lunch introductions were made, an information meeting was held and door prizes were awarded. The afternoon was spent getting acquainted, relating family memories and having fun. The children and young folks had a wonderful time enjoying ice skating, swimming and other excellent facilities at the Jones Center for Families. All those at the reunion were asked to contact family members and urge them to attend next year.

The following were recognized:

Frank Collins at age 94 was the most senior man in attendance. He is from Fayetteville.

Lynette Crawford at age 91 was the most senior woman in attendance. She is from Belton, Texas.

Breanna Irene Crawford at age 3 months was the youngest child. Breanna is from Shirley, Ark. Other babies at the Reunion who were born since our last reunion were Payton Monday, Caitlyn Davis, and twins Crawford and Abigail Lamb.

Eric and Leilani Ward from Euless, Texas, were the most recently married; they were married on May 17, 2015.

George and Lynette Crawford from Belton, Texas, have been married the longest, 66 years. They celebrated 67 years of marriage on July 5, 2015.

Earl and Janet (Crawford) Bennett from Falls Church, Va., traveled the greatest distance.

Kinfolks and friends came from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Virginia to join those from Arkansas.

The next reunion is planned for June 25, 2016, at the Jones Center for Families in Springdale. All Crawfords and kinfolks are cordially urged to invite all their family members to come next year.
