Eight Morrow Valley Christian Academy students and five adults attended International Student Convention in Las Cruces, N.M., May 23-28. About 2,000 people attended the convention from 136 countries and 21 states from the United States.

Seven students from MVCA competed in numerous events and placed in the top 15 internationally. Mark Latta placed first in sketching and second in oil painting. Shelby Hall placed sixth in spelling and ninth in linear power point. Aareyon Newman placed eighth in wood construction and 14th in discus. Brooke Young and Rebekah Igo placed 11th in social studies collection. Lauren Graves and Alexis Hunt placed 15th in social studies collection.

The adults attending were Danaye Hunt as a sponsor, Rachael Denny as fundraiser coordinator, Carolyn Latta judged counted cross-stitch, David Latta judged shot put and discus and assisted in archery competition and Melissa Newman, who assisted students with projects and helped all who went along. Xavier Newman was the other MVCA student who enjoyed being in a different state and the cheering section.

The academy wants to thank all the people who supported the students during fundraisers so the students could attend this memorable event.
