Lincoln School Board Increase Subs' Pay

Substitute teachers for Lincoln Consolidated School District will receive a raise from $60 to $64 per day, as approved by the Lincoln School Board on July 20.

The district contracts with Subteach USA to provide substitute teachers and Subteach recommended the increase to meet the minimum wage requirement.

Board members approved May 26, 2016, as the graduation date for the Class of 2016 and passed a resolution for the board election on Sept. 15. Lincoln has two positions open on the election ballot and only one person is running for each position. School districts do not have to have an election polling place if there are not any contested races on the ballot or the district is not requesting a millage increase.

The board accepted the resignations of Krista McClurg, Marion Harris and John Randolph and hired the following: Lyla Rachelle English, Beau Collins, Emily Sanders and Marty Swain.

The construction project to remodel Lincoln Middle School cafeteria is underway and on schedule, according to Mary Ann Spears, school superintendent. The district also plans to use the company Aramark to provide food service for all schools and company employees are already at work preparing for the new year, Spears said.
