Flynns Celebrate 50th Anniversary

Carl and Mary Flynn will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a drop-in reception from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at Farmington Senior Center, 340 W. Main St., in Farmington.

Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories with the couple. Hosts will be their two sons. Attire is casual for sure. They ask that you bring no cards or gifts, your attendance will be their gift.

Carl and Mary were married on July 3, 1965. Carl Calvin Flynn is a native of Farmington and Mary Frances Barnes' family moved to Farmington from Dutch Mills when she was in High School. They met in High School at Farmington.

Carl and Mary were married in the Barnes' front yard at 117 East Main St., Farmington, Ark. Following their marriage in 1965, they lived on South Duncan in Fayetteville. Carl went to work for University milk farm and became a butcher. In September of 1966, Carl was inducted into the Army. He was stationed at Fort Polk, La., for two years where he served as a butcher/cooking instructor and head of the mess hall. While Carl and Mary were in Fort Polk, they worked together at a Dairy Queen on Carl's off-duty time.

After completing his tour in the Army, Carl moved his bride back to Farmington in 1968. Their first son, Kyle was born in 1969 and their second son, Scott was born in 1971. Carl and Mary moved to the Wheeler area in Fayetteville in 1973. Carl worked as a pressman at Standard Register for 33 years and retired in 2001. Mary worked as the superintendent's secretary at Farmington Schools and retired in 2012. They built a house in Prairie Grove in 2004. Following retirement, Carl and Mary still reside in Prairie Grove and attend Clyde Church in Clyde, Ark.

Carl and Mary's two sons, Kyle K. Flynn, with wife Linda, and Scott Flynn both reside in Fayetteville. They have also been blessed with three grandchildren: Colton, Kaleb and Kasha.

Together, Carl and Mary have found friendship, raised a family, and built a beautiful marriage. They know that they have had a very blessed life and hope to have more happy and loving days in years to come.
