Home Extension Clubs Remembered

For the 100th anniversary of the Homemakers Extension clubs, we tell the history and honor the memory of those long gone. Thanks to Gwen Schube for the following information of one group.

Cane Hill and Skylight clubs organized around 1920. County agents demonstrated new technology in canning, sewing, gardening, etc. in members' homes. Meetings centered around prayer, news, projects, a meal and fellowship.

Skylight's members were Gather McCamish and daughters Vernice, Gladys, Octavia, Neva and Neta, Olive Spinks, Leatha Hite, Gertrude Smith, Florida Smith and her two sisters.
