PRAIRIE GROVE -- Three years missing from composites of graduates of Prairie Grove High School have been replaced through the efforts of two seniors in a new class called Senior Tech Seminar.

The classes of 1974, 1983 and 1991 did not have their senior pictures hanging in the hallway and over the years, graduates have wondered why their composites were not on the wall along with all other senior composites, said Mandy Bartholomew, yearbook sponsor and instructor for the new course.

She said the composites were either damaged and not returned or were missing for another reason.

To recreate the composites, seniors BaLeigh Bell and Jacob Smith used the yearbooks from each of the three classes and individually scanned in the seniors' photos. Then, using Microsoft Publisher, they created a layout that was similar to other composites on the walls.

"It was difficult," Bell said. "You would take the yearbooks and scan in the pictures and if they didn't turn out right, you had to re-scan each one."

A company in Fort Smith printed the composites and then the finished product was framed by a business in Fayetteville.

Senior Tech Seminar is a project based class available to seniors who have taken computer classes. In addition to working on projects, the students also are getting certified in Microsoft Office, Bartholomew said.
