April Busy Month For Seniors

The month of April was busy, as usual, in the Lincoln Senior Center. In addition to the in-house, everyday lunches, there was Bingo, and games, blood pressure checks, Gospel singing, Bible study, movies, jam sessions, the Kitchen Band and TOPS meetings, as well as the monthly birthday party.

Also, there were trips to eat out, movies, bowing, Muskogee Azalea Festival in Honor Heights Park, Gentry Safari, Cherokee Casino, and the A to Z in Alma.

The Hee Haw show, yard sale and other fundraisers, brought in $3,551.26 for the month. Catering alone brought $922 (take ours and other outside orders).

Lots of activity and work!

The Lincoln Kitchen Band will not meet next Tuesday, May 19, but plan to meet again May 26, to practice for their entertaining for the upcoming Country Breakfast in the Senior Center on Saturday, May 30, from 8 to 10 a.m. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m.- biscuits, sausage-gravy, "Grandma's chocolate gravy," bacon, sausage, eggs and pancakes.

There is a warning to shake out your shoes before putting them on. Recently, I heard of a lady who was bitten by a black widow spider when she put on her shoes, and she ended up in the hospital. Later, I read in a magazine, "The venom of a female black widow spider is more potent than that of a rattle snake." The spiders hide in dark places, like shoes, and they don't give warning like rattlesnakes do.

Sunday, May 17, cemeteries holding decorations are Academy, Bugscuffle, Cemetery Hill, Cox, Dutch Mills, Eighty-six, Garret Creek, Howell, Illinois Chapel, Lewis, Lincoln, Sharp and Wickwire.

Happy birthday to Randy Long, Leona Devore, Joye Ryan, Marie Roy, Rocky Murray, Tim Rich, Bob Munyon, Dawn Myers, Ann Smith, David Tate, Lauren Roeder, Dennis Spear, Doug Stumbaugh, Roland Bailey, and Chelle Kelly.
