FARMINGTON -- A stabbing at Class Event Center in Farmington is still under investigation and police do not have any suspects at this time, said Detective William Redfern with Farmington Police Department.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the police department at 267-3411.

The stabbing occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., Saturday, April 18 during a private party at the center, 78 E. Main St. Redfern said the police report indicates the event was an alumni party, though it did not specify which university or college.

Farmington police was notified about the stabbing at 3:22 a.m., April 18, by Washington Regional Medical Center after the victim, a 22-year-old man, was taken to the hospital by a friend. Redfern said he understands the victim was either a college student or graduate. Redfern declined to name the victim because the investigation is ongoing. He said the man is not from this area.

The young man was admitted to the hospital with two non-threatening lacerations on the left rib cage.

According to the victim's statement, two men were fighting in the parking lot of the Event Center and the victim jumped into stop the fight. He said he did not realize he had been stabbed until after the fight. The victim could not identify the two men fighting or did not know who stabbed him.

"He hasn't been cooperative in providing any information," Redfern said. "We've followed up on every lead, checked area videos and have no suspects. We are pursuing other avenues at this time."

Redfern said a lot of people from outside this area were at the party. He said he does not believe the victim wants to pursue the incident any further but Redfern said police would like to find the suspect and proceed with the investigation.
