MORROW -- Tractors are as much a part of American history as apple pie and baseball. Rustic Relics Show and Pull each year reclaims much of the history of farming with its antique tractors on display for visitors as they gather to enjoy the tractor show and pull each year.

This year is the 20th annual Fall Tractor Show and Pull, sponsored by Rustic Relics Inc. Antique Tractor Club. The event is set for Oct. 17-18, starting at 8 a.m. each day on the Nolen Farm at the intersection of Arkansas Highway 45 and County Road 3 in Morrow.

Show Schedule Each Day

All Day — Machine and tractor demonstrations

8 a.m. — Gates open

12:30 p.m. — Kiddie tractor pull

1 p.m. — Parade of power

1:15 p.m. — Tractor pull

The event includes an adult tractor pull, kiddie tractor pull, parade of power and the feature tractor this year -- a 1950 Oliver 66 "Row Crop." A $5 donation gives one a chance to win this tractor. The drawing will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. The winner does not have to be present to win.

The club started when "a bunch of guys got together" to start it, according to Roger Hutchens with the club. "We got together to start the tractor club the first time in Farmington. We started the tractor pull about 10 years ago."

Nolen Farms has several buildings that contain old farm equipment and tools and Jay Norton, secretary/treasurer for the tractor club, said that is probably his favorite part of the show each year.

"These are many things from the earlier years of farming, what farmers used to have to use. There are old trucks, tractors and engines," Norton said.

The show features a privately owned museum that is "full of memorabilia" from the early 1900s and 1950s, Norton added. One example is an old truck that belonged to Harvey Jones, founder of Jones Truck Lines in Springdale.

Rustic Relics sponsors a spring and fall show and each time raffles off a feature tractor. The club purchases an old tractor and restores it. Proceeds from the raffle are used to purchase the next feature tractor. If there is any additional money left over, the club awards one or two college scholarships to a Prairie Grove or Lincoln student.

The Rustic Relics club meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at the clubhouse on the Nolen farm. Anyone interested is invited to attend a meeting.
