Lincoln Loses True Servant

Our Lincoln area has lost a "one in a million" true servant. Space prevents, and words can't express a full report of the fruitful life of Ruth Parker. After attending the U of A she taught school one year, then was employed by the U..S. Postal Service, where over the next years, worked in all four postal locations in Lincoln. First on the north side of the square, then to one on South Main, next to the new building on Park St. and finally the current one on Highway 62. Ever vigilant, as post-mistress, she made sure the carriers were extra careful on the days when various checks were due.

She was active in all local activities, the town meetings, her church, even participating in school activities, and she was ever anonymously supporting the needy. She always had words of encouragement for friends.

One of her many accomplishments as Mayor of Lincoln, was securing the recycling service in Lincoln, which is still going strong after almost 25 years.

Ruth left this life with a crown of many stars, and will always be missed.

Some shoppers from the Senior Center went to Fayetteville's farmers market Tuesday. It was a difficult decision to make, out of the freshly picked bounty. All came home with everything from cantaloupes to cucumbers, with squash, grapes, tomatoes, eggplants, etc. in between. They arrived back at the center in time for the Kitchen Band fun.

The band plans to have a float in the Apple Festival parade. Anyone with ideas and free time -- help!

Happy birthday to: Corgan Guthery, Kara Cunningham, Lou Ann Eversoll, Noah King, Evonne Osborn, Tom Lockhart, Jared Munyon, Jeff Barnes, Phillip Karnes, Lynn Tollett, Barbara Goolsby, Rick Reed, Disa Almeta, Jerry Yeager, Rose Brown, Scott Meyer.

Happy years, all!
