School Board OKs $15 Million Budget For District

PRAIRIE GROVE -- Prairie Grove School Board approved a $15 million budget for the 2015-16 school year at its Aug. 24 meeting.

The district opened the school year with a balance of $2.3 million. It projects to receive $15.2 million in revenue. Projected revenue includes $5.4 million from property taxes, almost $9 million from state aid based on student enrollment and about $1 million from state designated funding and other sources.

Budgeted expenditures total $15 million. The school will spend $7.2 million on salaries for certified employees, $3 million for instructional and pupil support, $2 million for operations and maintenance, almost $700,000 for transportation and $577,543 salaries for administrators and principals.

The district's debt payments for the year will be almost $1.4 million.

The approved budget leaves a projected balance on June 30, 2016, of $2,250,000.

The approved budget is slightly lower than the 2014-15 budget. Last year's budget projected $15.4 million in revenue and proposed $15.3 million in expenditures.
