PRAIRIE GROVE -- After a five-year hiatus, Prairie Grove Junior Civic League revived a community tradition and brought back the Miss Clothespin pageant this weekend.
Parents, grandparents and friends filled the Prairie Grove High cafeteria Sunday afternoon to support their favorite pageant contestants. Girls, ages 0 to 18, walked the stage smiling for the judges and waving to family members in the audience.
Jamie Linn, who has been involved in many pageants, coordinated and emceed the pageant. She said she was amazed with the turnout. More than 70 girls signed up and 61 contestants showed up to participate. The pageant has not been held the past five years because of lack of interest.
The pageant was divided into eight age divisions and each division had a queen, princess and most photogenic. A people's choice award also was named based on the most number of votes, with each vote costing $1.
Sponsors for the pageant were The Back Porch, The Flower Shop, Crescents, Urban Fringe Salon, What My Eyes Have Seen Photography and middle school EAST lab. Proceeds will benefit the Junior Civic League and its community endeavors.
