Remembering Thanksgiving Family Time

Thanksgiving day was a little cool but otherwise perfect for all activities, outside and inside, and the Cheatham family, hosted by Johnny and Anna, took advantage of it, for a day of reunion. Attending were their children, Dean and Misty and their children, Karen and Keith Lipford and children and Brittany McMahan; also Johnny's dad, J. F. Cheatham; Johnny's brother Jody and Darlene and children; Lisa and Caleb Rawls and children; Tara and Patrick Abshier and children and Brad and Jennifer and their son. Johnny and Keith had started the smoker and grill at 5 a.m., the result being a meat-laden kitchen island by noon, from turkey through pork loin to spare ribs, etc., and a container of venison. (There were others that I couldn't even sample). All this plus the counter and a table of various casseroles, salads, and vegetable, and the counter in the utility room held desserts and drinks of all kinds.

Music filled the air in the sun room, all afternoon while youngsters enjoyed outside games. Later, group pictures were made, to help later with the good memories.

Members of Sugar Hill Church still talked of their time of thanksgiving as the holiday had just passed, but thought, still with thanksgiving, of blessings of the upcoming Christmas season. Remembering the reason for that season, the song service included "Oh Little Town of Bethlehem," "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World" and Chris Rogers' special was "Look for me." May the spirit of this special time remain the rest of the month and in coming years.

The tentative date for the church Christmas dinner was set for Sunday, Dec. 18.

Happy birthday to Dax Morton, Hanna Pitts, Angelina Myers, Melissa Hutchens, Curt Roberts, David Latta, Westin Luttrell, Marilyn Tate, Payton Myers.

Happy years, all!

Remember recycling Monday, Dec.12.
