GRAVETTE -- Gravette had a good finish to a bad week.

Jackson Soulé scored 19 points as the Lions overcame a second-half deficit and defeated Lincoln 78-68 in a homecoming game on Friday, Jan 22. Kelton Trembly scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half after Lincoln gained its biggest lead, 41-33, on a long 3-pointer by Roni Castaneda.

Gravette took a 53-50 lead into the fourth quarter after a rebound basket by Soulé. Trembly, a sophomore, then scored seven consecutive points to give Gravette (9-10, 3-5) a 62-52 lead with 5 minutes, 1 second left in the game.

Gravette produced runs of 13-0, 11-0, and 9-0 to counter eight 3-pointers by Lincoln (7-13, 1-7), which beat Prairie Grove in a 4A-1 Conference game on Tuesday. Dalton Barnum scored 22 points and Castaneda 21 to lead the Wolves.

"They shot it great in the first half," Gravette coach Greg White said. "We came out in the third quarter in a zone and our press really picked up the intensity. We had some leadership with Jackson and Trace (Crawford), a couple of seniors led us home."

Gravette badly needed a win after losing to Gentry on Tuesday and Prairie Grove at home on Thursday. The loss to Prairie Grove was particularly painful after the Lions blew a 10-point lead in the second half.

"It was a rough week for us, but it's a good league," White said. "Getting a win on homecoming, a crazy day, is a good finish. I told our kids we're 1-0 and on a seven-game season right now."

Four players made 3-pointers in the first half when Lincoln overcame a 13-0 surge by Gravette to take a 35-29 lead. But Lincoln committed three consecutive turnovers when Gravette used its zone press to outscore the Wolves 24-15 in the third quarter.

Gravette continued 4A-1 Conference play at Prairie Grove on Tuesday while Lincoln returned home to face Pea Ridge.
