To the Editor:

The article in your 7-8-16 edition entitled "Crawford Indicted On Federal Threatening Charge" contained a glaring error. There isn't any such thing as an AR-15 assault rifle. To be an assault rifle, the AR-15 would have to be capable of multiple shots with a single pull of the trigger, but it isn't. Perhaps, they're thinking of an M-16, which looks identical to the Ar-15 but obviously works differently.

Here's an example. Visualize two cars sitting side by side. There're both the same make, some model, same color. Are they identical? No, because one has an automatic transmission and the other is a stick-shift.

As with anything of even a semi-technical nature, it's best to get your data from an expert, and/or someone who doesn't automatically believe everything he reads in the newspaper.
