Hadley Pitches Farmington Past Prairie Grove

Cards Also Split Doubleheader Against Maumelle

Farmington completed a two-game sweep against nonconference rival Prairie Grove with the help of senior pitcher Ben Hadley in a 5-1 victory on April 25.

Hadley allowed one run on four hits while walking four and striking out two to pick up the complete-game victory. Hadley threw 96 pitches, including 53 strikes.

Tyler Gregg tripled and drove in three runs to lead the Cardinals' offensive attack.

Prairie Grove starter Gavin Heltemes struck out six in three shutout innings before being relieved to preserve his arm for the district tournament. The senior also broke up Hadley's shutout bid with an RBI single in the seventh inning.

Farmington followed up the win by splitting a 5A-West doubleheader against Maumelle on April 26. After losing the opener 10-0 in five innings, the Cardinals rebounded to win the nightcap 6-1.

Gregg, a junior right-handed pitcher, had seven strikeouts while allowing just one earned run on five hits in four innings in the opener.

Trenton McChristian had two of the Cards' three hits in the shutout loss.

In the second game, Ben Silvis picked up the win on the mound. He allowed no earned runs while scattering six hits and striking out four in seven innings as Maumelle plated its lone run on a first-inning error.

Farmington took the lead in the fourth inning on an RBI double by McChristian and an RBI single by Blake Madewell.

Kelton Price highlight an three-run seventh inning with a two-run double.

Ryan Larkin was 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI and Nick Huff was 2 for 4 with a run to lead the Cards' 10-hit attack.
