FHS Strong At 5A State, Conference Track Meets

Farmington sent several boys athletes to the Class 5A State Track Championships after they posted strong performances at the 5A-West Conference Track Meet.

During the state meet on, Farmington junior Josh Williams finished sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.03 while teammate Reid Turner was 10th. Williams finsihed second in the event at the conference meet, which was April 28 in Morrilton.

Sophomore Alex Garrison was eighth in the high jump at state after winning the event at the conference meet while teammate Trey Waggle, a freshman, came in seventh.

Senior Colton Parrish and freshman Xavier Willbanks came in 13th and 15th, respectively, in the triple jump.

Dakota Simon was 14th in the 300-meter hurdles. The junior qualified for state in the 300 hurdles by finishing runner-up at the conference meet.

Farmington's boys came in fifth in the 4x400 relay and 10th in the 4x800 at the state meet.

At conference, there were several other standouts from Farmington.

Sophomore Caleb Williams finished sixth in the 100-meter dash.

Trey Waggle came in sixth while Parrish was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles.

Sophomore Jae Wood was seventh in the 200.

Williams' runner-up finish led a strong team effort by the Cardinals in the 400 as Turner and Josh Ball came in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Farmington also was strong in the relays, finishing second in the 4x400, third in the 4x100 and fourth in 4x800.

In the discus, Farmington's Matt Duffy, Charlie Wood and Rhett Rominger were ninth, 10th and 11th.

Danny Valenzuela was ninth in the long jump while eighth-grader Tony Mayo was 12th.

Sophomore Derrick Ebers was eighth in the pole vault and ninth in the 300 hurdles.

In the shot, seniors Justice Hobbs (5th), Brice Waggle (7th) and Matt Duffy (10th) put up solid throws.
