Another Wonderful Apple Festival

Forty-one years! It sure seems like "only yesterday" when, while walking around the park during Apple Festival time, we visited with Bonita Sparks at her booth of art items and Faye Huber with her pepper jelly display, and so many others. The visiting with the Collins, Yeager and Turner families who planned their reunions to come "back home" during Apple Festival. This was always a fun time with long-time friends, making memories, which is all we have left.

This year, with the beautiful weather, the attendance was up, with crowds all over town. Of course, around the square was crowded, but some streets were really hard to get through, because of traffic at the many yard sales. Our community as a whole, benefited from the event.

There were fewer floats in the parade than usual, mostly cars, tractors and other vehicles. Two of my great-grandsons drove tractors, and, not to be out done, their little sister wanted to ride in the parade too, so they decorated her bicycle and she won first place, so she probably will be there again next year!

The weather was ideal for the event this year, not a cloud in the sky, and cool enough for comfort. Now, we are ready for much needed rain.

Now, a youngster's version. "A first-grade class was putting on a singing program for the community, to raise money for new playground equipment. The last song was "God Bless America."

As they began singing, the teacher realized that they had not practiced enough when she heard them sing "Stand beside her and guide her, through the night with a light from a bulb."

Happy birthday to Robert Hobbs, Sandy Norton, Bill Baker, Eden Cochran, J. D. Roberts, Marietta Morris, James Nash,

Happy anniversary to Jim and Rebecca Ayers.

Happy years, all!
