Prairie Grove Native Seeks Little Rock Seat

LITTLE ROCK -- Jeff Yates, 50, the eldest son of Howard and Billie Yates, and a 1984 graduate of Prairie Grove High, is seeking the Ward 4 seat in the Little Rock City Director's race.

Yates is in a three-way race with Capi Peck, a local restaurant owner and caterer, and Roy Brooks, former Little Rock Superintendent of schools. The race will be decided in the Nov. 8 General Election.

Yates is a businessman, real estate developer and long-time public service volunteer in the Little Rock/Pulaski County area. He has been a member of the Little Rock Board of Adjustment, chairman of the Little Rock Planning Commission and chairman of the Habitat for Humanity of Central Arkansas among other appointed offices.

He has also been treasurer of the Pleasant Valley Property Owners Association; President of the Woodland Hills/Aspen Highlands POA; and a committee member on the Birchwood/Walnut Valley Neighborhood Planning Committee.

Yates is a member of the Board of Directors of the Little Rock Realtors Association.

He and his two brothers John Richard and Gregory all grew up in Prairie Grove. Their late father Howard, was a supervisor in a manufacturing plant in the area.

Yates' mother, Billie Yates, who now lives in Farmington, was a long-time counselor in the Prairie Grove School District.

Yates has a finance degree from the University of Arkansas. He is married and has a daughter, Evelyn, who is eight years old.
