Bentonville Man Charged With Burglary

PRAIRIE GROVE -- A Bentonville man is facing multiple charges, including breaking and entering a building and residential burglary, after he was arrested Oct. 18 following a foot chase by Capt. Jeff O'Brien with Prairie Grove Police Department.

O'Brien said Prairie Grove police charged Rickey Bickford, 34, with breaking and entering a building and residential burglary, both felonies, and theft of property, criminal mischief, fleeing, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

According to reports, O'Brien said, Bickford entered a house on Hindman Street that was being remodeled and removed tools. He then took the tools to a pawn shop. The homeowner showed up at his house and called the police department after realizing some items were missing.

Police were able to get the name of the man who pawned the tools at the pawn shop, O'Brien said.

Witnesses in the neighborhood reported they had seen a man earlier in the area and then saw him again running through the subdivision. O'Brien said he pursued the suspect on foot and saw him roll up underneath a garage door that was not closed all the way.

O'Brien said he asked permission from the homeowners to search the house on Custer Street and police officers found the suspect hiding in a closet.
