Council Approves Rezoning Request

FARMINGTON -- Farmington City Council approved an ordinance at its Oct. 10 meeting to rezone about eight acres on U.S. 62 and Jim Brooks Road from highway commercial to residential single family.

Twin Falls Development requested the rezoning change.

The Council also approved its annual ordinance to levy a 5-mill tax on real and personal property within the city limits. This is the same millage that Farmington has collected for years.

Council members approved a request from fire Chief Mark Cunningham to add Joe Shirley as a volunteer firefighter.

The city's financial report shows Farmington collected $51,589 from its 1-cent sales tax in September and collected $97,719 from the county sales tax.

Sales tax revenues increased in September, compared to September 2015.
