Hee Haw Show Set For Saturday Night

Lincoln will have its own version of Dinner Theatre this Saturday, Sept. 24, in the Senior Center. Dinner (or supper, as we Arkansawyers call it) is to be served at 6 p.m. and will consist of brisket, baked beans, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes with gravy, hot roll and cobbler plus drinks. Then, the Hee Haw show will begin at 7 p.m., and according to all reports, this show itself will be worth the price of admittance, $10. The Lincoln Kitchen Band will "strut their stuff" sometime during the production.

All proceeds go to Meals on Wheels, so you don't only get "two for one," meal and show, but "three for one," as you will be helping a worthy cause.

Reports are that a good crowd attended the Sugar Hill Church annual Homecoming Sunday, for the service, big Arkansas meal, fellowship and afternoon music by eight musicians. I knew what I was missing when I found I was unable to attend, but my sincere thanks to the best of friends, Bud and Paula Cox, who came by and took my little contribution to the meal; also for the caring calls later to check up on me. What blessings, our friends!

Some humor, considering the "spotty" showers we have received lately.

A city man stopped to talk with one of the local farmers and asked if they'd gotten much rain lately.

"Some, but not much," the farmer said, shaking his head sadly. "The neighbor across the road gets more rain than I do."

The main started to nod, then stopped. "Wait a minute. How can the neighbor across the road from you get more rain?"

"Easy," replied the farmer, "Her farm is twice as big as mine."

Happy birthday to Ashelyn Myers, Casey Rigsbee, Bryce Bradley, Mike Summers, Nelda Hacker, Julie Myers, Terri Boyd, Thelma Napier.

Happy anniversary to Joshua and Angela Myers.

Happy years, all!

Remember recycling next Monday, Sept. 26.
