Letters To Santa: Fun To Read

A favorite, annual column in the Washington County Enterprise-Leader is the Letters to Santa special section.

The Dec. 20 issue of the paper will feature these letters written by first graders at Lincoln and Prairie Grove elementary schools and Folsom and Williams elementary schools in Farmington.

Children write these letters in classes and first grade teachers are gracious to type them as written and email the letters to the newspaper.

How can Santa resist not granting the wishes of these children?

Miley in Lincoln asks Santa for a "cat story and a doll and a hatchamle and I want a little pupy and I want a ipod."

Popular requests this year include Apple products, Xboxes, cars, guns, Barbies, art supplies, craft items, bikes, balls and Legos.

Halen from Williams Elementary has quite a feat for Santa to meet: "I would like a real live raptur that doesn't eat anyone or animals and it opens doors and climbs stairs and jumps high and i can ride him like a horse that would be really fun."

This is when a parent can use the line: What you get from Santa has to be OK with your mom and dad.

Claire, from Lincoln, changed her mind to help out Santa. She wrote, "I am so sorry that I made a horse hard to fit in your sleigh, but I changed my mind I want a banjo!"

And the children have such good manners in their letters.

Kaiden from Williams writes, "Thank you for coming every Christmas."

Emily in Lincoln adds, "Thank you Santa for my toys last yer."

Gavin, also from Lincoln, has one request that could be on a lot of adults' lists this year: "I will take a Visa card."

Merry Christmas, first graders.
