What I Learned In FFA

Coming into my freshman year I wasn't exactly sure if I wanted to take an ag class or not. My sister was heavily involved, my step-dad was the teacher and I felt like I should give it a shot.

Before I moved to Lincoln I never went near the animals at the county fair and now I'm right in the middle of it all. When my step-dad asked me if I wanted to show anything at the fair I was a little skeptical. I decided to go ahead and try to show, so I showed a sheep. I never realized how difficult raising an animal could be. Every time I had to wake up at 6 in the morning and feed my sheep I thought that I had made the wrong decision by deciding to show.

After going to the county fair and hanging out with friends, working with and showing my sheep, I realized that I had made the right decision. I never realized that showing an animal at the county fair could be this fun. Then I decided that since I had so much fun at the county fair that I was going to join a judging team. It took me a while to figure out which one that sounded the best to me but I finally found the one that I love, Vet Science. Vet Science is so fun to judge because it has many different aspects to the competition. I know things now that I never would have known if it wasn't for Vet Science, traveling to competitions and getting to compete with my team was a bonus as well.

FFA has multiple different things to offer for everyone, I am a perfect example of that. I never really thought that I would be involved in FFA but deciding to join was the best decision I've ever made.
