PEA RIDGE -- Prairie Grove went on the road with a chance to tie Pea Ridge for the conference lead.
That didn't happen as scoring looked effortless for Pea Ridge's Matt Thomas off Prairie Grove turnovers during a Jan. 10 runaway, 74-43, defeat of the Tigers.
The 6-feet-5 Farmington transfer scored a game-high 31 points mostly on layups either going to the basket or drives beating the Tigers in transition. The Blackhawks hit 8 shots from beyond the 3-point line, including four in the final quarter with the game well out of reach. Ten players scored for Pea Ridge, which improved to (14-1, 8-0). The loss dropped Prairie Grove to 7-8 overall, and 6-2 in 3A/4A District 1 play. DeMarkus Cooper came off the bench to lead the Tigers in scoring with 12 points. Senior Cameron Simmons added 10. Senior guard Isaac Disney returned from injury and contributed 8 points.
