Thousands of visitors are expected to come to Prairie Grove this weekend for the Junk Ranch vintage fair but these visitors also will have other venues to go to in the area.

Along with the Junk Ranch, other events in Prairie Grove are 2nd Saturday Trades Day, Junk Yard Dog Junk Fest and Junk at the Mill.

Each will have music, vendors with lots of items for sale and food trailers.

Enjoy them all.

Junk Ranch

The Junk Ranch vintage fair returns June 9-10 to its pasture with the red barn off U.S. 62 bypass. The address is 11195 Centerpoint Church Road, Prairie Grove. The event is held twice a year, in June and again in October.

Friday, June 9, is an early shopping day, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and admission is $10. These tickets also are good for entry into the Junk Ranch on the next day. Admission is $5 on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Parking is free and children 12 and under get in free.

Thousands of people come to the Junk Ranch, which has developed quite a reputation for its vendors and and the many unique items they sell. Patrons will see primitive barn finds, old advertising signs, vintage seasonal items and vintage furniture. Other items include repurposed items, crafts and just old stuff.

Along with shopping and browsing, customers can enjoy food vendors and live music.

2nd Saturday Trades Day

2nd Saturday Trades Day, sponsored by Prairie Grove Chamber of Commerce and a Trades Day steering committee, will be held Saturday, June 10, and this is the fourth month for the downtown event.

The mission of 2nd Saturday Trades Day is to promote the beautiful historic Prairie Grove business corridor and provide partnership opportunities for service groups in Prairie Grove.

Saturday's Trades Day will have a special concert by Porchlight Symphony, a new blue grass band, beginning at 1 p.m. in Mock Park. The concert is one of several activities planned for 2nd Saturday.

The day starts with a pancake breakfast in the Prairie Grove Chamber of Commerce building from 7-10 a.m. Groovin' in the Grove starts at 11:30 a.m., and musicians with string instruments are invited to come jam in Mock Park. Visitors are welcome to bring chairs and blankets and enjoy the music.

Vendors with junk, antique and other craft items will be set up around downtown, with several in the grassy lot next to the Chamber building. Live, local music will be going on at Fat Rolls bakery, 116 N. Mock St. Carriage rides and food trailers also will be part of the day.

Downtown shops will be open and visitors are encouraged to shop in those antique and gift stores.

Junk Yard Dog Junk Fest

The Junk Yard Dog is the only event going on in town with all proceeds to benefit a local non-profit group, Friends of Prairie Grove Pound. The fest is the Friends' major fundraiser for the year and proceeds are used to pay for vet fees and other costs in helping to find homes for stray and abandoned dogs and cats.

Junk Yard Dog will be held 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. It is located at 314 E. Parks St., in Prairie Grove. Admission and parking are free.

In addition to many different vendors, the Junk Fest will have a food trailer from Smokin' Joe's BBQ and a dessert vendor. Organizers hope to have 30 vendors at the event, with repurposed furniture, junk, handmade kids' clothes, boutique soaps and skincare and home decor available for customers to purchase. Vendors are coming from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri.

Two groups will perform during the day starting at 11 a.m., an all-girl show choir called SoundAlive and Red Hot and True Blue Coggers.

Also on tap, an Adoptable Pet Parade will be held at 2 p.m. and area shelters and rescues are bringing adoptable animals and visitors are encouraged to find out more information about the animals.

Junk at the Mill
