April Showers Bring May and June Showers

What an unusual Spring! We not only had "April showers," they also "showered" into May and part of June, with so much cooler weather than usual. Though it was so much more than we needed at times, it brought the deep moisture we have needed for so long. Now, this week, the farmers have been happy to "make hay while the sun shined," and surely they are counting their blessings. The fields are so clean and green, just waiting for a few more showers.

As for the cool temperatures, I have always uncovered the air conditioner around the first of May. Now I am ready to do that (the middle of June), and I dread the hot weather they are predicting for this summer. (One extreme to follow another?)

For the farmers:

"I Believe"

Most people demonstrate their faith

Through church attendance or by deed,

But surely the greatest show of faith

Must be a farmer planting seed.

The same goes for gardeners, some are now planting, a time of the year they are usually beginning to harvest. For those who are fortunate enough to have a garden, if the deer make meals of your efforts, just plant mint every foot or so, and it will keep them away. They don't like the taste or smell. I have some mint that I would share for starters.

Happy birthday to Edward Bradley, Linda Myers, Betty Cameron, John Mefford, Adriana Barbosa, Scott Bellamy, Weston Butler, Annell Cochran.
