Prairie Grove Plans First 2nd Saturday Trades Day

PRAIRIE GROVE -- A tradition from years ago in Prairie Grove will make a return to the downtown area on Saturday, March 11.

The event is called 2nd Saturday Trades Day and the plan is to have a monthly event with food, vendors, shopping and live music on the second Saturday of the month.

Prairie Grove Area Chamber of Commerce and a Second Saturday Trades Day Committee are sponsoring the monthly event.

According to Audra Bailey, committee chairwoman, the purpose and mission of 2nd Saturday Trades Day is to promote the historic Prairie Grove business corridor, provide partnership opportunities for service groups in the Prairie Grove area, create unity in the community and promote Prairie Grove as a travel destination.

The schedule for the first 2nd Saturday Trades Day will begin with a pancake breakfast in the chamber building from 7-10 a.m. The first pancake breakfast will be hosted by Prairie Grove High school EAST Lab.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Groovin' In the Grove will be held at Mock Park. Musicians are encouraged to show up with their instruments and play to entertain visitors to the downtown area.

Another chance for musicians and singers will be the 2nd Saturday Open Mic at Fat Rolls bakery during the afternoon hours.

Several activities will be ongoing throughout the day. Food trucks are expected to set up along Buchanan Street. In addition, art exhibits will be available for visitors to enjoy.

Prairie Grove Town Center, located in the former Prairie Grove Police Department and District Court, will have a community resource fair for local organizations and businesses to share about their resources available to the public.
