FARMINGTON -- A Farmington man is facing felony aggravated assault, possessing an instrument of crime and disorderly conduct, both misdemeansors, after he fired multiple gunshots from the roof of his house Thursday night, according to a Farmington Police Department preliminary report.

Taylor Jones, 24, of 44 Spokane St., was booked into Washington County Detention Center on Friday morning following the incident the night before. He also is charged with violating Farmington's ordinance that prohibits firing a gun in the city limits.

Farmington office Josh Catron responded to a call of gunshots fired at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Spokane Street. His report states that he heard the gunshots when he arrived but could not tell exactly where they were coming from.

Officers with Fayetteville Police Department and Washington County Sheriff's Office arrived and assisted in setting up a perimeter around the area. Police were able to identify the suspect was on the roof of the house at 44 Spokane.

According to the report, Jones went inside the house and came out several times but would not surrender. The Emergency Response Team arrived, entered the house and was able to take Jones into custody.

Police received consent to search the house and seized multiple firearms, handguns and rifles, and a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana.

Chief Brian Hubbard said Jones appeared to be intoxicated. One of the gunshots hit a privacy fence, he said, but there apparently were not any other damages from the gunshots. No one was injured.
