Wolves Struggle Against Ozark, West Fork

LINCOLN -- The Wolves baseball competed against West Fork, then entered the Westville, Okla. tournament last week.

Oaks Mission 6, Lincoln 5

Oaks Mission from Oaks, Oklahoma presented a barrier standing in the path of Lincoln from advancing during the Westville, Okla baseball tournament Thursday.

The Warriors (1-1) coached by Dan Cooper, out-hit the Wolves, 3-2, and outscored Lincoln, 6-5, to win a first-round tournament game. Lincoln held a 2-1 lead after the second inning, but the Warriors added two runs in the fourth. Lincoln rallied and forged a 3-3 tie with a Wolf run in the sixth. Then in the top of the seventh, Oaks Mission took a 6-3 lead. Lincoln scored twice in their last at-bat, but could not get one more run to tie.

Jacob Anderson and Cordelle Whetsell drove in runs for the Wolves. Junior Trae Harrison went 2 for 3 with a double and sophomore Sterling Morphis did likewise. Sophomore Ryan Flickinger led the Wolves with two stolen bases. He also took one for the team, getting on base after being hit by a pitch.

West Fork 11, Lincoln 1

West Fork steadily pounded away building a lead, until a 5-run sixth inning ended the game early as they beat Lincoln, 11-1, on March 6. Junior Trea Harrison drove in a run to give Lincoln a short-lived 1-o lead in the top of the first inning.

The Tigers broke away from a second inning 1-1 tie with 2 runs in the third and 3 in the fourth. Neither team scored in the fifth, but West Fork scrambled 5 runs in the sixth to end the contest on a 10-run rule. Lincoln had only three hits in the game. There were 9 strikeouts against West Fork's Timmy Farmer and Keggin McKenzie. Farmer got the win and McKenzie recorded a save.

Ozark 11, Lincoln 4

Senior Keaton Moon (1-0) pitched Ozark to an 11-4 win over Lincoln on March 4. Moon was on the mound for all seven innings, throwing 39 pitches fewer than the Lincoln staff.
