Afterschool Encampment

Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park is hosting After-School Encampment, Monday evenings in October (except for the 30th): 4-5 p.m. It is a free weekly program for children ages 6-12. Each week's activity will focus on a different theme, craft, or skill. Kids, wear sturdy walking shoes and bring water. Meet at Hindman Hall Museum.

Dutch Oven Cookin' Workshop

Join a park interpreter at the Battlefield State Park for a hands-on, Dutch Oven cooking workshop, 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 21. Discover the methods and secrets of successful Dutch oven cooking that Ozark settlers have used for decades. You'll learn the basics of temperature control, as well as cast iron care and cooking; plus, you'll leave with recipes to try on your own! $12 per person. Registration is required.

Night at the Museum

Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park will have a new event this year called Night at the Museum, 6-9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28. Legend says that the exhibits in Hindman Hall and the structures along our Ozark Village come to life after dark. Come and see many stories come to life that are a part of the Battlefield heritage. Grounds admission: free; Museum admission: Adults $2; Children Ages 12 and under $1.

Monthly Chamber Meeting

Prairie Grove Area Chamber of Commerce will have its monthly meeting at noon, Thursday, Oct. 26, at Cedar Springs Clubhouse, 701 S. Mock St. Lunch is $5/person. Come to the meeting to learn more about Cedar Springs Independent Living and see its beautiful facilities.

FARMINGTON

School Annual Report

Farmington School District will present its annual Report to the Public at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 23. The meeting will be at Lynch Middle School.

Library Fall Book Sale

Shop the fall book sale sponsored by Friends of the Farmington Library, noon to 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 27 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28. Great selection of gently used books, DVDs, and CDs. Book sale proceeds go to support the collection and services provided by the Farmington Public Library.
