Mark Beaver, 48, has more than 20 years in the construction business and in leadership roles and believes those experiences will help him continue to serve as a member of Prairie Grove School Board.

Beaver was appointed to the School Board last fall to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of board member Eric Walker. Beaver had previously run for a position in September 2015. One of the main reasons the board voted to appoint Beaver to fill the vacancy was that he had shown an interest in being a member of the School Board.

Beaver is seeking election to Position 1 on Prairie Grove School Board.

A graduate of Prairie Grove High School, Beaver is an electrician and attended Northwest Technical School in Springdale. His youngest daughter graduated from Prairie Grove High in May.

Beaver said he believes the role of a school board member is to support the district's faculty in creating a safe, challenging environment for students to succeed. His experience as a board member the past year will allow him to continue serving the district without any interruption in Board continuity, he added.

He has 25 years of experience in construction and 20 years experience in leadership roles at various employments.

This experience "helps me deal with staff and difficult issues," Beaver said.

If elected, Beaver said his goals would include improving facilities, improving faculty and helping to create a safer environment.

"I grew up in Prairie Grove, I have spent most of my life in this School District," Beaver said. "I love this School District and community. I would like to help make it a better place."
