Northwest Arkansas Not Seen Devastation Like Texas

We hear of the hurricane and floods on the coast and can't fully imagine the scope of devastation.

The nearest to a flood in these Arkansas mountains was a few years ago when we received days of rainfall. Roads, ditches and lawns were covered with at least 10 inches of water and the yard looked like a river.

Another weather topic in 2009, was the unusual ice storm, with trees and limbs breaking, sounding like gun fire. We still see the results in dead trees. After a windy day, I pick up dead limbs that were broken and they caught in the branches.

Then the March 2, 2014, sleet storm! Some was piled so high one man said he could touch the eaves of his house by standing on piled up ice.

Two different hail storms that were really bad, one is about 1938, and the other about 40 years ago when gardens were up and growing, they were beat flat and covered with hail.

Those were the worst I can remember except the two tornadoes, one north of town and one in Cincinnati, both deadly.

None of these were so wide spread as the hurricane and flooding. We can't fully imagine the scope of devastation, and can only ask God to help where we can't.
