District Interviews Candidates For Assistant Principal

Wednesday, April 11, 2018

PRAIRIE GROVE -- Prairie Grove School District is in the process of filling an assistant principal's position at the high school and received more than 60 applications for the job, said Allen Williams, superintendent of schools.

Williams said a committee narrowed the applications to 10 top candidates and these are being called in for interviews. It's possible the committee may decide to bring in two-three of the top 10 for a second round of interviews, Williams said.

Members of the search committee for the position are Williams, Principal Ron Bond, Assistant Superintendent David Kellogg, Joey Sorters, athletic director/assistant high school principal, and four high school teachers.

Sorters will continue in his role as assistant high school principal/athletic director, Williams said. Sorters was named athletic director in June 2017 when former AD Tommy Roy resigned because of health reasons. Williams said the athletic director primarily deals with sports on the high school level so it made sense to keep that position within the high school administration.

Most of the applications for assistant principal came from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri, Williams said. No one from within Prairie Grove School District applied for the position. Williams said he hopes to have a recommendation at the School Board's April 16 meeting.

The 10 top applicants for the position are:

• Jed Davis, Marion

• Floyd Fisher, Mansfield

• Amanda Green, Omaha

• Bryan Hale, Bentonville

• Michael Hampton, Fayetteville

• Stephanie Miles, Northwest Arkansas Education Service Cooperative

• Tim Miller, Fayetteville

• Josh Nixon, Hilldale, Okla.

• Zach Vest, Rogers

• Elizabeth Watkins, Huntsville.
