FARMINGTON -- Last season with leading scorer Matt Wilson on the bench his teammates outscored Providence Academy 18-10 over an 8:13 span, but this year was a different story.

With Wilson graduated and now playing at Delta State the Cardinals struggled to score losing to the Patriots, 46-25, in a forgetful game Jan. 30 at Cardinal Arena.

"That's the lowest output we ever had since I've been coaching here," said Farmington coach Beau Thompson. "You couldn't win a game at the 4A level scoring 25 points, you sure won't win one in 5A. Nothing worked. We tried to spread it out and find the lanes. We tried to go high-low. Until somebody makes a shot it doesn't matter what we do. Right now, we're just a frustrated basketball team."

Jaylen Montez led the Cardinals with 9 points. No Cardinal had more than two field goals. Farmington managed a mere six points over the middle two quarters. Thompson went deep into his bench, but the offense simply wasn't there on this night.

"We were not consistent at the free throw line (5-of-10). We were not consistent beyond the 3-point arc. It's tough to win like that," Thompson said. "This time of year you should know where your points are going to come from. Right now we don't have a clue. We'll play better or we won't play very long."

Riley Fox scored 13, and Matiss Sivins had 10 for Providence Academy.
