Billy Dee Osborn of Lincoln will celebrate his 90th birthday from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, at First Baptist Church in Lincoln.
Osborn was born Feb. 15, 1928, to Dee and Isla Osborn in Lincoln.
At the age of 6 weeks on April 4, 1928, Osborn made the Lincoln history book. A tornado hit Lincoln, killing four and injuring many others. Through a miracle from God, Osborn was wrapped with a mattress and blown about 300 yards away near a barn. When he landed, the mattress unwrapped and "Billy Dee" was named the miracle baby that survived the tornado unharmed.
To the family's knowledge, Osborn is the only living survivor of the Lincoln 1928 tornado.
Osborn was a bricklayer for 35 years and was a custodian at the high school gymnasium for 26 years. He just retired three years ago and he still lives in Lincoln.
In 1950, he married Evonne Hudson. They had two children Tommy Allen of Kibler and Karen Coleman of Farmington. They also have four grandchildren, one deceased grandchild and 10 great-grandchildren with one more due in May.
