PRAIRIE GROVE -- The rain and cold weather held off Thursday morning as Arvest Bank held a groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the beginning of what will be a new branch in Prairie Grove on Heritage Parkway.

The new bank will be a full-service facility, sitting on 1.7 acres of land facing the valley area of Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park. It should be finished in mid-2018 and then Arvest will move from its downtown location to the new site along the bypass.

Mike Willard, president and chief executive officer for Arvest Prairie Grove, Farmington, West Fork and Lincoln region, welcomed bank employees, city staff, Chamber representatives, members of the community and Arvest Bank board members to the site for the new building.

Others at the groundbreaking included representatives of the contractor, Flintco, and engineers involved in the project. Members of the Arvest Junior Bank Board from Prairie Grove High School also attended the ceremony.

"Thank you all for braving the weather and coming to this exciting, special event in the life of our bank and in our community," Willard said.

The new $3 million bank will have 4,240 square feet, 38 parking spaces and two additional handicap parking spaces. It will have nine offices with one conference room, four teller windows and three drive-through windows.

Customers will be able to access the bank from three driveways, two from Sundowner Road and one from Heritage Parkway.

Willard said the new campus will allow Arvest to provide its current and future customers with the latest banking technology along with a full array of banking products. Customers will have easy access and parking to the new bank, its ATM and drive-through service, along with extended banking hours.

Services provided at the new branch will include personal and business deposits, consumer and commercial loans, agricultural and mortgage loans, investment strategies, portfolio management, estate planning, trust and insurance services.

"As you can tell, we're going to be a full-service bank here," he said.

Bank associates are excited about the new building and looking forward to serving customers from a new facility, Willard said, adding, to laughter, "We're going to have windows. It's amazing."

Willard said he believes the location on Heritage Parkway will spur additional growth along the bypass that will benefit the community as a whole.

After the ceremony, Mayor Sonny Hudson said he was glad to see another new building in Prairie Grove.

"Anytime you see new buildings going up, it's good," Hudson said. "They are investing in our community."'

Hudson agreed with Willard that he believes the new bank will encourage more development along the bypass.
