Tigers Go 1-2 During Holiday

PRAIRIE GROVE -- A win over 7A Rogers was followed by a pair of losses to Oklahoma schools for the Prairie Grove boys basketball team while competing in the Siloam Springs Holiday Classic.

Coweta, Okla. 49, Prairie Grove 21

Coweta, Okla., held Prairie Grove to just five points in the second half in a third place game victory in the Siloam Springs Holiday Classic on Saturday, Dec. 30. Coweta led 15-6 after the first quarter, but Prairie Grove pulled within 23-16 at halftime. Coweta outscored Prairie Grove 11-4 in third quarter to take a 34-20 lead going into the fourth, where Prairie Grove was outscored 15-1. Andrew Keathly led Coweta with 25 points while Gavin Underwood had 8. J.D. Elder led Prairie Grove with 5 points, while Nick Pohlman and Demarkus Cooper each had four.

Claremore, Okla. 53, Prairie Grove 41

Claremore (Okla.) got a 28-point performance from Layton Hartoff and the Zebras earned their way back to the Siloam Springs Holiday Classic finals with a win over Prairie Grove on Friday, Dec. 29. The Zebras (5-3) led 15-7 after the first quarter and 29-14 at halftime behind 17 points from Hartoff. Claremore led 42-27 going into the final quarter. Bray Glenn added nine points for the Zebras. Will Pridmore led Prairie Grove with 17 points, while Demarkus Cooper had 11 and D.J. Pearson nine.

Prairie Grove 46, Rogers 32

Will Pridmore scored all 19 of his points in the first three quarters and Prairie Grove ran by Rogers in the second half of the Tigers' opening round win against the Mounties on Thursday, Dec. 28, in Siloam Springs Holiday Classic tournament action. The Tigers led 13-9 after the first quarter and 23-16 at halftime. Prairie Grove extended that lead to 34-20 going into the fourth quarter and led by as many as 21 points in the final period. Anthony Johnson added nine points for the Tigers, while D.J. Pearson and Nick Pohlman each scored six. Jake Early led the Mounties with 10 points, while Baylor Lacewell had eight points.
